This resource consists of two worksheets, each focusing on Christmas. The first worksheet covers numbers 1 to 5, the second covers numbers 6 to 10.Sheet 3 is a blank template that can be used in a variety of ways. Each worksheet includes five black and white pictures of things you may see at Christmas, such as mince pies, crackers, presents and reindeer. Children count, colour and cut out the images. There are matching number cards for each picture. Children can write the corresponding number, trace the numeral, and then match these cards to the picture cards on the worksheets. There are also cards displaying the names of the Christmas pictures. Children can practice their writing skills, cut out the names, and match them to the appropriate Christmas pictures. The resource also includes a blank template, allowing children to get creative by drawing their own Christmas pictures or pasting pictures in number order. A fun way to incorporate maths into the festive season. Cut out the 24 colour pictures of socks for children to make into pairs of Christmas socks. They can look out for the odd picture, that shows a pair of socks, rather than a single one, as a talking point. Once the socks are all paired, children can use the sock template worksheet to create their own Christmas designs on the white socks and make these into matching pairs. Children can look out for pattern and colour to help them with their sorting and matching. There is a blank sheet that children can paste pairs onto or draw their own socks and designs. For younger children and / or a practical element, ask children to bring in a pair of socks and create a class sorting sock activity!

A fun festive treat for young children to get them in the mood for Christmas. The activity requires careful observation skills. There are 18 pictures of animals all wearing a different Christmas hat. There are also 18 hat pictures for children to match up to the animals. You could use the activity like a lotto game where 3 children each have a board showing 6 animals in their hats. They would then try to match up the correct hats with the correct animal. Alternatively, duplicate the animal pictures, laminate and cut out for matching games. The final sheet of the resource shows all 18 animals - this can be used for matching the animal pictures, for inspiration for making posters or Christmas cards or for speaking and listening activities.
